meet Mel Beach

My quilting adventure began in 2003 and I've enjoyed every moment spent creating modern, bold and fun quilts.  While living in New York state, I learned to quilt on my own via books, magazines and television.  Since moving to Northern California, I've immersed myself in the vibrant quilting community here in the Bay Area, as well as online.  I love experimenting with new techniques and designs, and especially enjoy combining bright colors and exciting textures, whether its solids, ombres (my personal favorite), prints and/or my own hand dyed fabrics.

I am especially drawn to participating in Quilt Challenges, both at the local and national/international level!  Each new challenge pushes me to grow as a quilter as I create innovative designs to celebrate fiber through new techniques, fabrics and layouts.  I am honored to have several of my quilt entries juried into exhibits including:

"RE$I$TAN¢E"-Threads of Resistance Travelling Exhibit
"Thunderstruck"-Finalist in 2017 Riley Blake Creative Rockstar Fabric Challenge
